The newly launched childhood-obesity-fighting program, Snack It Up, is trying to change the way kids eat in Dallas. I just tucked down a Jack-in-the-Box waffle breakfast sandwich, so this DBJ article is really guilt-tripping me. But kudos to this initiative. It seeks to connect out-of-school programs with grocery stores that’ll provide fresh fruits and veggies to kids after school. Kroger has already signed up.
Trace Arnold, the self-proclaimed “Rib Whisperer,” is spending $500,000 pretty bucks to renovate 3 Stacks Smoke and Tap House in Frisco. The restaurant will close on Jan. 13 and reopen on Jan. 27, according to DBJ reporter Danielle Abril. It will become a full-service restaurant, so no more waiting through the cafeteria line to pick up your own food.
Hopdoddy is spreading its burger madness all over North Texas. Eater Dallas says one will go into the old Frankie’s Sport Bar space on McKinney Avenue, and the other is planned for Addison’s Village on the Parkway shopping center.
