Cloud Nine Café in the Reunion Tower Features a 360 Degree View of Dallas

Cloud Nine, a Wolfgang Puck cafe, opened in conjunction with the Reunion Tower’s shiny new observation deck, the GeO-Deck, this past Saturday.

Months ago, the third and fourth floors of Dallas’ landmark were both empty and stripped. Now the third floor has become an interactive tourist trap where people can watch a JFK video for seven minutes or choose to walk on the outside of the Reunion Tower. (This, admittedly, is kind of cool.) The fourth floor is now a dining destination for hungry visitors who probably think, “Eh, that GeO-Deck thing was okay. Now let’s go eat!”

Like I said before, Cloud Nine is by Wolfgang Puck. Upstairs, on the fifth floor, is Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck. Basically, you have two Wolfies in the Reunion house now.

During the day, Cloud Nine serves Texas cuisine. Get a boxed lunch or opt for the buffet selection. You’ve got your grilled cheese sandwiches, your pecan praline pies with edible glitter, your mini Reunion-Tower-shaped dessert, and appetizers like fried green tomatoes. Sandwiches, salads, you name it. They’ve got it.

At night, the fourth floor turns into an extension of Five Sixty and Cloud Nine is whisked away. Poof. Just like Russia chases clouds away on public holidays (they use aircraft carrying CO2 to dissipate clouds), so does Reunion Tower act on Cloud Nine in the evenings. When the sky turns dark, the floor becomes a private dining space with modern Asian cuisine.

Confusing? I think so, too. Let me simplify it for all you tourists out there:

DAYTIME: CLOUD NINE:: TEXAS FOOD.
NIGHTTIME: FIVE SIXTY:: ASIAN FOOD.
