Before this holiday madness, I had this foolproof plan to escape Dallas and drive down to Austin tomorrow. It was foolproof, at least, until I found out that Formula One World Racing Championship is happening this weekend, too. Dangit. It’ll be mayhem. Everyone, wish me luck in the Austin traffic. I’ll need it.
Friday
Um, did I mention that Idle Rich Pub is giving away free Mavericks tickets at 5 p.m. today? All 200 of them, yup.
Brine, Wine, and Dine at Whole Foods‘ Park Lane location today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Learn how to slice a turkey and prepare the perfect Thanksgiving dinner for $30 per person. You must be 21 and up. To buy tickets, go here.
Shuck N’ Jive (401 West President George Bush Highway, Richardson) is hosting a free tasting of Chef Sean Frye’s jumbo shrimp and lump crab hushpuppies from 5 to 9 p.m. today. Frye recently won the national US Foods’ Next Top Product contest, so his restaurant is inviting the public to give it a try.
Saturday
The Grand Prairie Farmers Market is hosting a Gobble Daze from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take your kids out there for a bounce house adventure, face painting, turkey toss, and a scary amount of much more. I guess that’s why it’s called a ‘daze.’
Hotel St. Germain is turning James Bond-y at 7 p.m. The Skyfall dinner ($100 per person) includes five courses, two French wines, and a glass of Bollinger Champagne. For reservations, call 214-871-2516.
Sunday
The Round Table, young professional group that benefits the North Texas Food Bank, is hosting a brunch at ACME F&B from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For every person that walks through the door during that time, $1 is donated to the NTFB. Feed yourself, feed the hungry.
