Glory Days: They don't pass Wade Randolph Hampton by.

Today we learned Ghostbar, once the highest grossing club in Dallas, is closing. According to one employee, most of the club’s workers found out they were jobless by reading about it on blogs. Ouch, that’s cold.

Our first concern was for Wade Randolph Hampton, the dude behind the vibe at Ghostbar. “What will happen to Wade,” cried one co-worker. “Oh, my gosh. I wish Wish FM were here so I could cuddle with him,” swooned another. If you don’t know Wade/Wish, you can read this interview.

Well, don’t worry about Wish. According to a lengthy press release I received, his has been granted. Listen up.

Hampton’s fans will still be able to catch his local shows every Friday at the intensely authentic yet still hushed discotheque (and 50’s dancehall of the same name) – It’ll Do – where he has partnered with heralded impresario Brooke Humphries. His bombastic Friday hoedown,  called The ISH, will feature the absolute cutting-edge in bass music and indie-electro with a bevy of globally recognized artists, including members of the unstoppable Pretty Lights camp and Dallas dubstep prodigy, Spenca.

He’s also joining up with M3 Films execs and producers Michael Cain and Melina McKinnon. They are currently producing multiple projects including the STARCK PROJECT. Jump for the notes and quotes.(It’s the end of the world as we know it.)

WADE RANDOLPH HAMPTON, CREATIVE FORCE BEHIND GHOSTBAR DALLAS, JOINS M3 FILMS AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR

DALLAS – (July 10, 2012) – After six years of leading Ghostbar, one of the most prolific night clubs in Dallas history, Wade Randolph Hampton returns to the entertainment industry as  Creative Director at Dallas’ M3 Films. Hampton will reteam with M3 Films execs and producers Michael Cain and Melina McKinnon as the trio worked together on the documentary TV JUNKIE which won the Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and went on to be part of the HBO Emmy awarded ADDICTION series.

“We are thrilled to have Wade join our leadership team. His skill set, connections and incredible energy are great complements to the talents of our team including Principal Miles Hargrove, Director of Development Jason Cirone and Producer Dennis Bishop,” says Michael Cain. “I’m thrilled that the stars aligned and that we can make this happen at such a critical time in the company’s history.”

M3 Films is currently producing multiple projects including the STARCK PROJECT which includes a documentary, narrative feature film/television series and soundtrack based on Dallas’ Starck Club, one of the world’s hottest clubs from 1984-1989. Hampton serves as a producer on the project and will oversee the music licensing and development of the much anticipated soundtrack. Hampton is also returning to his creative roots by composing the documentary film score as well as working with music legend Seymour Stein and Sire Records to create the soundtrack of a generation.

“I am finishing a successful six-year run at one of the truly historic nightlife venues in Dallas to return to an industry I love and to finish our next film about the most important club of all time, right here in my hometown! That is nothing short of a dream for a Dallas artist like me. While I’ll miss the daily whirlwind of pomp and circumstance, I am very excited about the future,” says Hampton.

Meanwhile, Hampton’s fans will still be able to catch his local shows every Friday at the intensely authentic yet still hushed discotheque (and 50’s dancehall of the same name) – It’ll Do – where he has partnered with heralded impresario Brooke Humphries. His bombastic Friday hoedown,  called The ISH, will feature the absolute cutting-edge in bass music and indie-electro with a bevy of globally recognized artists, including members of the unstoppable Pretty Lights camp and Dallas dubstep prodigy, Spenca.

“I put the word out that I wanted to do a world-class, hardcore, music-driven weekly again, but the club had to be just right,” explains Hampton. “I wanted the perfect sound and a venue run by a proper electronic veteran owner.  The It’ll Do crew, who also operate Texas DJ festival dynasty Full Access, are at the very core of our electronic dance music industry for the entire South. I’m at home with this original family, and this is as real as it gets for our scene.”
