Holiday Gifts For the Wine Lover

Looking for the perfect gift for your wine loving friends, boss, loved ones, but don’t have a lot of time to shop?  Here are a few tips that I’ve come across recently that will make the buying easy, as shopping on line always does, and make you look good.

David Adelsheim is one of the fathers of Pinot Noir in Willamette Valley, starting his winery sheltered by the Chehalem Mountains in the early 1970’s.  Since then they have been producing world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  Their Reserve gift pack features the best of both of these with their 2009 Elizabeth’s Reserve Pinot Noir and their 2010 Caitlin’s Reserve Chardonnay.  2009 is said to be one of the best for Oregon Pinot Noir in recent years, and Adelsheim is sure to do it right.

Viader Winery, known for their stunning Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc blends at the base of Howell Mountain, has created holiday gift packs of three bottles presented in a Viader wooden crate, or single bottles bagged in cute holiday packages.  Chose from their Black Label Cab/Cab Franc blend, their “V” Petit Verdot blend or their exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon Proprietary Blend, or create your own from their library or newly released wines, all at special pricing as well.

Silver Oak is one of the most iconic wineries of the Napa Valley, with their water tower logo easily recognized by those who love wine from the region.  This year they are adding a special touch to their  2007 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, filled with ripe cherry, blackberry and spice, or their earthy and bold 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, filled with black cherry, cassis, wild flowers and cigar box.  Now you can add personalized, custom etched messages to a bottle, showing that special someone how much you care.  All etching done through the winery in California so order soon to make it in time for the holidays.

Bill Easton of Terre Rouge Wines and Easton Wines is perhaps best known for his Zinfandel and Rhone varietals, but he also makes delicious Bordeaux style Cabernet Sauvignon.  He recently uncovered 50 cases of his 1998 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon in his warehouse.  After opening a bottle he knew he had found a little piece of gold, as the soft, spicy and subtle wine was everything that a great Cab should be.  The 50 cases are available now, at a great discounted price of $199 a case, while supplies last.  Call the tasting room to order -209-245-4277.

Or, if you have the time to browse a bit, Wine.com is a great website for buying wine from all over the world.  Order a case today (full or mixed) by 11:59PT with the promotional code 15case and receive a 15% discount off the entire case.
