Opportunities to Taste Around Town

There are a handful of great opportunities to taste both wine and spirits around town in the next few days.  Here are a few that top my list.

Central Market continues their tribute to Spain with 20% off Spanish wine this weekend when you buy at least 6 bottles, 25% off 8 bottles or more.  Run by tonight for a chance to meet Álvaro Palacios, of Bodegas Palacios Remondo in Rioja.

I just had the chance to have lunch with Alvaro this week and he is as charming as his wines are vibrant, elegant and memorable.  Grab a bottle of the Placet Valtomelloso, a white Rioja made from 100% Viura grapes which open in the glass transforming the wine from rich mineral flavors to  subtle floral and herbal notes.

Also this weekend at The Taste of Addison Robert Mondavi Winery will host their Discover Wine tour where guests will learn everything about wine from how it is made, to what is the best pairing.  This is the 5th year of the Mondavi wine discovery tour with the goal to help both wine novices and aficionados enjoy their glass just a little bit more.

Sunday at 1pm Kathy DiPietro, CSW will lead a session on how to throw the ultimate wine party at World Market on Lovers and Greenville. (A perfect stop before you get your Spanish wine dinner fixings at Central Market)  You must register in advance though here.

The Grape features France in their monthly “Come as You Are” wine dinner Wednesday night, May 25.  Eric Swindel with Serendipity Wine Imports will personally walk each guest through a tasting of three incredible French favorites from the Serendipity portfolio with three equally tasty French inspired courses created by The Grape Chef/Owner Brian Luscher, and the nice thing is you can come and go when it suits your schedule.  Reservations recommended and accepted anytime after 5:30, 214-828-1981.
