Wednesday night Andrew Ormsby, Randall Copeland, John Tesar, Janice Provost and more showcased seductively sweet desserts to raise funds for Best Buddies Texas in the first annual Life is Sweet Pastry Chef Showcase at Victoria Hall inside Andrew Ormsby Catering.
Best Buddies is an organization helping people with developmental and intellectual disabilities through one on one friendships with volunteers, integrated employment, leadership with social inclusion and lasting friendships. Almost 17,000 people were helped last year in Dallas through 8 high school and 3 college programs, with more to come after the success of Wednesday nights event.
Participating chefs were paired with a Best Buddy to assist in their dessert creations. The results were not only spectacularly presented, but tasty too!
I asked Chef Ormsby, co-host for the event, why he got involved with the Best Buddies event. “When I was approached I knew that this was an important charity that I wanted to be involved with. They are growing in Texas and this was a great opportunity to get the word out beside some of Dallas best chefs.” Chef Ormsby and his best buddy, Abby Munn, created a stunning pumpkin roulade with fresh cream and mint. Delicious.
