I am not an early bird holiday shopper. It’s not for lack of trying, but somehow, no matter how much I plan, I still find myself racing around on December 24 trying to cross the last couple of items off my list.
But this year I’m really going to try. No really, I am. I’m already perusing catalogs with my girlies, stashing little purchases away in the closet. And I’m marking my calendar for all the holiday markets (because buying local and handmade is always good, yes?), starting with next week’s Chi Omega Christmas extravaganza.
The 35th (!) annual market runs November 14-17 at Centennial Hall at Fair Park and boasts a slew of unique gifts from more than 165 handpicked vendors (think: jewelry, home and holiday décor, women’s fashion, toys, food and drinks, linens, original art…you get the idea).
But the best part is that all this early bird holiday shopping is for a good cause, with Chi Omega Christmas Market organizers pledging $205,000 to beneficiaries including Genesis Women’s Shelter, Parkland Foundation, and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, among others.
The market kicks off with a preview party Wednesday, November 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. followed by First Call shopping on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. First Call tickets, good for general admission re-admittance throughout the duration of Market, are $20 and can be purchased in advance or at the door for $25.
General admission will run Thursday, November 15 from 1 to 9 p.m., Friday, November 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door or can be purchased in advance for $12 at Dallas-Fort Worth-area Tom Thumb stores and online.
