North Texas seems to be turning into an insurance hub. The region has seen relocations and expansions from companies like State Farm, Liberty Mutual, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Travelers; now, GEICO is making a move, too.
The country’s second-largest auto insurer has leased 233,000 square feet of space at 2280 North Greenville Avenue in Richardson. More than 1,600 local employees will move to the building, which at one time served as a headquarters for Fossil.
GEICO was formed in Texas in the 1930s. It’s now based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.
The company was represented in its search by Griff Bandy and Jon Silberman of NAI Partners and Tom Lynn and Nick Lee of NAI Robert Lynn. Chuck Sellers of Avison Young and Lauren Perry of Peloton Commercial Real Estate represented the landlord, CNL Commercial Real Estate.
