D Real Estate Daily recently celebrated its two-year anniversary—and the 40th anniversary of Bryan Tower—with a party on the 35th floor of the iconic downtown Dallas office building. More than 200 commercial real estate pros stopped by, including David Pinsel, Linda McMahon, Jack Gosnell, Ralph Hawkins, and Phil Puckett.
Before the news site’s top 12 most popular contributing editors were revealed, several execs shared memories of their early roles at Bryan Tower, which opened in 1973. Chuck Dannis spoke about helping to pay his way through college by working construction on the project when it got under way in 1971. Wayne Swearingen and Sam Hocker—who wore a hard hat from the building’s ground-breaking ceremony—talked about giving the project its original name (2001 Bryan) and early leasing strategies.
Host Spire Realty Group gave away several door prizes—including an 1858 Uberti Remington .45 Colt revolver, similar to the one used by the famous gunfighter Doc Holliday, whose dentist office was located on the site where Bryan Tower now stands. Jones Lang LaSalle’s Calvin Hull was the lucky winner.
