Hamilton, the phenomenal immigrant success story and paean to responsible American governance that’s won every Tony there is to win and sold every ticket there is to sell on its way to becoming a national sensation, will head to Dallas.

Dallas Summer Musicals has booked the national tour, along with a production of Aladdin, for its 2018-2019 season. The news that the company landed the biggest show in the country may slightly overshadow its other weekend announcement of a 2017-2018 season that is loaded with other popular hits, including The Color Purple, Les Miserables, and Disney’s The Lion King. It’s not too much of a stretch to go ahead and call it a comeback for Dallas Summer Musicals, which parted acrimoniously with its longtime president last year amid financial struggles and competition with its in-town rival of the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Dallas Summer Musicals has since partnered with Broadway Across America, a New York-based company, for booking shows, and the bet appears to have paid off.

Dates for Hamilton and Aladdin have yet to be announced, but a press release makes clear that any effort to snag tickets will only be guaranteed by buying a season subscription for 2017-2018 (starting at $150) and then renewing that subscription for the following season. (At the risk of speculating on potential dates, we will point out that Hamilton is in Houston throughout most of May 2018.)

In the nearer future, Broadway fans can look forward to the following from Dallas Summer Musicals:

The Color Purple, Jan. 23-Feb. 4, 2018

On Your Feet!, Feb. 27-Mar. 11, 2018

Waitress, Mar. 28-Apr. 8, 2018

Les Miserables, Apr. 24-May 6, 2018

School of Rock, Aug. 15-26, 2018

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (add-on), Dec. 5-10, 2017

“The lights have never been brighter at DSM, and just like the tradition of a Broadway musical is to always evolve, so has our organization,” DSM’s Interim Managing Director David Hyslop says in a press release. “This season’s lineup is one of our most diverse and anticipated yet. It will be moving, engaging and inspiring filling our patrons with smiles and special moments.”
