Last summer’s closing of BookEnds, the surplus bookstore in the Dallas Public Library’s downtown branch, was a tragedy for lovers of books and discounts. Walking out of the store with a cardboard box stuffed with used books would rarely run you more than $10.

The silver lining here is that the library will now hold massive biannual sales to shuttle off extra items, the first of which is set for the weekend of Jan. 28. A press release from the Friends of the Dallas Public Library calls it “its biggest sale in decades.” From the release:

The public sale will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. But FODPL members will get first access to the sale on Friday, January 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The bargain bookhunting will take place at the J. Erik Jonsson branch downtown at 1515 Young St. Go here for more info.
