Today’s presidential election forced NBC’s The Voice to tweak its own democratic formula Monday night, condensing performances, voting, and results into one action-packed episode of reality television.

The live vote turned out OK for Fort Worth alt-country singer Austin Allsup, who made the cut and advances to the singing competition’s final 12.

Allsup will continue to work for the hearts, minds, and text-message votes of NBC audiences when the show returns next Monday night. Democracy in action.

Does he deserve your vote? Well, Allsup, unlike Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, has the endorsement of Blake Shelton and performs a fine rendition of Waylon Jennings’ “I Ain’t Living Long Like This.”
