While not a full-fledged Monty Python reunion — which, barring sudden new developments in the permanence of Graham Chapman’s death, isn’t realistically possible — John Cleese and Eric Idle’s comedy tour is as close as we’re likely to get to seeing the legendary British comedy troupe in the flesh here in the U.S.
“Together Again At Last…For The Very First Time” last year ripped through the American southeast, mostly Florida, where audiences are old enough to remember new episodes of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Now, it is finally ranging farther afield, landing at the Majestic Theatre on Dec. 1.
The show is described as a mix of “scripted and improvised bits with storytelling, musical numbers, exclusive footage and aquatic juggling to create a unique comedic experience with every performance.”
So it’s basically, if you squint a little bit, a Monty Python show. If you’re one of the many people who can recite Life or Brian or Holy Grail from memory, this is pretty wonderful news.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 am.
