The Granada Theater’s Free Week, a promotional gambit whose name should be fairly self-explanatory, kicked off Monday night with a screening of Almost Famous, and gets to the good stuff — the concerts — starting tonight.
Through Sunday, nightly shows at the Lower Greenville venue are free, with tickets handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who are worried about getting in can shell out $5 ahead of time to guarantee a ticket and a drink at the bar.
The lineup for Free Week is pretty swell, especially considering the cost, with some of North Texas’ finest, including Quaker City Night Hawks and Slobberbone’s Brent Best, making up the bulk of the schedule. Psychedelic rock legend Roky Erickson, of the 13th Floor Elevators, plays Saturday.
Here’s the schedule and lineup:
Tuesday, July 19: Seryn | Quiet Company | The Azalea Project
Wednesday, July 20: Ishi | The Octopus Project | Son of Stan
Thursday, July 21: Vaden Todd Lewis (Toadies) | Amber Farris (Somebody’s Darling) | Brent Best (Slobberbone)
Friday, July 22: Cory Morrow | Drivin N Cryin | The Vandoliers
Saturday, July 23: Roky Erickson | Natural Anthem, Moon Waves
Sunday, July 24: Quaker City Night Hawks | Dead Flowers | Oil Boom
