Mark Cuban’s AXS TV Network will broadcast live from Deep Ellum this summer, as the outspoken Mavericks owner launches a five-concert series featuring performances by the likes of Bad Company and the Village People.
Per a press release, the concerts kick off Aug. 11 with a broadcast of a performance by The Monkees. The series continues every Thursday through Sept. 8, with — in order — the Village People, Bret Michaels, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Bad Company. Each show will be at the Bomb Factory, and Cuban will act as your host and master of ceremonies.
“With this exclusive series, I wanted to craft a fun live concert event, giving viewers the best seat in the house to experience these legendary acts,” Cuban said in a statement. “From disco and funk, to classics and metal, there’s truly something here for everyone to enjoy, as we send summer out on a high note with some of the most beloved anthems of all-time.”
AXS TV, if you were wondering, specializes in these kinds of live broadcasts, billing itself as “a television network providing the best in music programming and festivals, comedy performances, and mixed martial arts promotions.” Tonight, the channel is showing the New York City Drone Festival, and — for the night owls — Rounders.
It’s pronounced “access.”
