April is finally here, and it brought a new crop of shows to enjoy along with its awesome weather. This weekend in particular should be a favorite for any Dallas festival connoisseur: the Dallas International Film Festival and the annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival are kicking off this weekend, providing Dallas art fans with over 170 films and 100 musical acts to enjoy (respectively). If you’re already feeling the “festival fatigue,” take a load off while checking out tonight’s events — Michelle Ofiwe

Madison King: You can catch this local country-pop singer tonight at Trees, where she’ll be celebrating the release of her sophomore album, Onward & Upward. This marks new territory for King, who has generated a lot of talk in the Dallas-Fort Worth country/folk scene leading up to her debut Darlin’ Here’s to You. King’s catchy, intricate mix of country, blues and pop has garnered and sustained a large following. Local acts Dead Flowers and Dovetail will support. — MO

AT&T Performing Arts Patio Sessions: AT&T will continue its popular concert series tonight with a special performance from Doug Burr and Tyler Rogueux of country/folk band, Whiskey Folk. Previous performers in this series include Zhora, Somebody’s Darling, and other local music fixtures. Pack a cute picnic and blanket if you can; there will also be plenty of food and drink to purchase on site as well. — MO

Yo-Yo Ma: This world-renowned cellist will be joining the Fort Worth Symphony tonight, marking his first performance with the noted performers in the entirety of his career. However, tickets have been sold out for some time—an obvious testament to Ma’s longevity and influence. — MO

As always, Dallas’ DJs will be hosting a bevy of great residencies in the area tonight. Don’t miss Colly T’s popular VIBE residency tonight at The Beauty Bar, or the much-loved The Basement residency held by DJ Sober at The Travis. DJ Spacechase will be hosting his Subsonic Indulgence Residency at Andy’s. Yeah Def will be hosting 80s Night at Hailey’s— MO

Also this evening: The Dram is celebrating two years of existence with a party featuring “Drampagne,” or two-dollar champagne cocktails from 8 pm to 10 pm this evening. A cover act called Graceland Ninjaz will be performing. If that name alone gives you pause, I’ll let you decide whether two-buck champagne drinks are worth testing one’s endurance for cover bands. I think I could probably deal with an hour or so. — Chris Mosley

Wanz Dover/b2b/DJ Red Eye/Dotz HiFi (The Crown and Harp): Pushing new and challenging sounds can often be a thankless endeavor but someone has to do it. Unfortunately this will be the last edition of Wanz Dover’s “Lost Generation” weekly, but something that happens now and again with this event over the years. Something tells me it will be back in some form eventually. Tonight Dover will mix live drumming and electronic effects with members of his band, The Black Dotz. Those have been some of the more immediate evenings of LG that I’ve caught in the past, so try to catch this, as its your last chance. For the time being, at least. — CM
