Chance the Rapper/DJ Rashad/DJ Spinn (Trees): Though Chance is on the receiving end of significant amounts of praise, due to his unusual approach to rap, you should make sure to get here in time to see fellow Chicago artist, Rashad. His I Don’t Give a F*ck EP is one of the standout releases of the year, even at just a handful of tracks.
“No Thanks Fest” (Emory, TX): This campout/weekend festival of extreme music is now an established Thanksgiving time tradition, and you can go here for directions (login required). The lineup is always vast and impressive, and is as follows:

“Benefit For Nevada Hill” (Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios): A diverse group of bands will perform in the third in a series of benefits for Nevada Hill. The lineup includes current acts such as Pinkish Black, and New Fumes, who put on a surprisingly noisy set at Art Con 9 last weekend. Also performing will be several disbanded acts such as Drug Mountain, which features Hill, as well as Douche, and another band that I won’t list since I was in the group. Douche, who were otherwise known as Last Men, is a hardcore band that featured members of such acts as Kampfgrounds, Sudden Laughter, and Drink To Victory. In the time that the group existed, they were remarkably effective. The band members are now spread out between Denton, Brooklyn, and Austin. Who could blame them?
SATURDAY
Sarah Jaffe/Son of Stan (Dan’s Silverleaf): Jaffe plays one of two shows at Dan’s this weekend, which sounds like an easy couple of sell-outs if I know anything.
A lot has been made of Jaffe’s work on the new Eminem album, and while that surely has raised the singer’s national profile, it’s hard for me to hold back my feelings about the blonde capped rapper, and you may have noticed he has that effect on critics. His Durst-ian flow just still reeks of a guy without a rap rock band when I hear him. I do like his antics in this interview, however.
Chvrches (South Side Ballroom): Peter Simek favorite Chvrches is playing quite the headlining bill and I am taken a bit by surprise that they are able to do SSB at this point in their career. There is more info here.
Knifight/Cutter/Def Rain/Future Death (Ware:Wolf:Haus): The booking is so good at this DIY venue, that I am curious as to whether this place is just as charming with a poor lineup. Luckily that won’t be the case this evening, and you should do what you can to support this place.
