Cleric/Vulgar Display (Good Records): Tofu Carnage continues to prove to be a vital force in Dallas DIY activity, this time by the release of death metal act Cleric’s Gratum Inferno LP. It has some of the wildest cover art you’ll see on a local release this year. The album art was meticulously rendered by Jason Barnett, whose work has been seen previously on another release by the label, Akkolyte’s Clues in the Chaospile. This free event is to mark the release of Cleric’s brand new record, and the group will be joined by Vulgar Display as support.
“Fresh Beats” (The Crown and Harp): I was told by the staff of the Crown and Harp that I needed to make every effort to come to the next installment of this producer battle, as the competition from past events has been described as particularly fierce. The lineup this time includes Priest, Supa Dave, SikWitit, -topic, SkyProd Music, Devin Candy, Theophilus the Scholar, and XcluBeats. A non-competition showcase performance will be conducted by Ish D, who was the victor of last month’s competition.
Lil Debbie/Remy Fax/Brain Gang/Internet Trap God (West End Event Center): Oakland’s Lil Debbie caused something of a stir with her SXSW performance, though anyone who came up under Riff Raff’s wing is likely to do that. I hope I can make it out to this, as it sounds like one of the more genius bookings of what has been a packed September.
“The Turn Up” (Beauty Bar): Tonight Ynfynyt Scroll will be joined by Philadelphia dance weirdo CJ Milli, who runs her own website, one that is as eye-popping as it is educational. On it, the DJ explains everything from the history of Grime music, to the complex lineage of the Jersey Club “bed squeak sample.” Somebody start a university course already. Milli performed in Denton last week at Andy’s Bar, so tonight should still prove to be vastly different if you caught her then.
“Decks in the Park” (Klyde Warren Park): This often well-attended dance event will feature the following DJs this time around:

“Big Bang” (The Travis): Dayta will help Picnictyme fill in for Sober, as the resident DJ is on a West Coast tour.
