Alfredo Jaar touched down in Dallas late last week to beginning a short-term residency at Southern Methodist University, but it was cut short when he collapsed on Friday afternoon. The artist was taken to Presbyterian Hospital where he received emergency gallbladder surgery. Jaar is recovering well, says Michael Corris, chair of SMU’s art department, and he plans to reschedule the visit for the early 2011.
