D Magazine's weekly newsletter about Dallas after dark May 8
Forwward to a friend

The Week/end That *Was*

This week I planned to touch on wine bars. That was until an instant message bubble popped up on my screen that read, “I NEED TO GO OUT ASAP.” The urgent cry was from a single girlfriend of mine who seemed a bit on the desperate side. Our IM conversation went something like this (edited version follows):

Friend: I have a guy here working on the roof and he’s kinda hot. My imagination is running like a cheesy romance novel.
Me: Oh God.
Friend: Can’t a girl dream? I don’t get out much! Let me have this moment…
Me: (expletive followed by eye-rolling emoticon)
Friend: Is it wrong if I pull some more shingles off in a few weeks to get him back over here?
Me: Yep. We need to get you out. I’ve got a few ideas.

And, here they are… (But, as always, don’t forget to check out last week’s galleries).

Where to *be* this week/end

Friday

5/9

Strongs

The food is OK, but who cares about that when you have lots of delicious eye candy?

Taste of Addison

Through 5/11
Picture this: You’re strolling around Addy-town on a clear night, eating food, enjoying a few frosty libations with your friends, all while being serenaded by the sweet, sweet sounds of Gavin Degraw, Switchfoot, and The Black Crowes.

Saturday

5/10

Kenichi

Your mom is right: There's plenty of fish in the sea. And there's more than a school of them at Kenichi.

Zubar

This weekend is their monthly “One” party.

Aura Uptown Lounge

The name of Uptown’s newest lounge says a lot. And, the extravagant lighting, European design, and plush leather couches have everything to do with it.
