The Week/end That *Was*

Spring is the time of birds and flowers and all of that "new beginnings" kind of stuff. For instance, new wardrobes (it helps to have your dad's credit card), new relationships (sometimes new ones every weekend), and new bars and restaurants to try. You're on your own for the first two. I'm here to help with that last one. So, this week I bring to you several new places to try (maybe with that new outfit and new boyfriend/girlfriend).

Oh. And in case you've been asleep since football season, we've got a reminder for you: Tony and Jess are dating now. And, they like to eat cake … and make out … and, well, see for yourself by checking out the photo gallery from last weekend.

Where to *be* this week/end

Glo

I can’t help but think of glowsticks every time I hear the name (bad fad!). However, this Glo does not attract the glowstick-waving crowd. The newly opened, already-popular lounge off Henderson Avenue has a 40-foot bar lining one wall and a line of booths alongside the other.

Sunset Lounge

The newly reopened lounge off Ross Avenue has had a little “nip, tuck, and lift” action. They say there’s “more room to get your groove on.” That’s great news if you dance like Elaine of Seinfeld, or even worse, me.

Cyclone Anaya’s Mexican Kitchen

Here’s why I fell in love with this sexy little Mexican restaurant as soon as I walked in: First, Gwen Stefani’s “Holla Back Girl” was playing (I heart her). And second, they are home to the “Horny Margarita” (told you it was “sexy”).

Villa-O

Let’s get the “what does the ‘O’ mean” out of the way first. It stands for “organic, original, oceanic.” (So shouldn’t it be Villa-O-O-O?) This place is pretty cool, especially because it’s in a prime spot for people watching on Travis Street.
