D Magazine's weekly newsletter about Dallas after dark January 10

What You Might Have Missed

In case you missed it, and I pity those of you who did, the beats and babes were in full effect at Zubar last weekend. (We’ve got photos to prove it.) But fear not, my nightlife-loving friends, this weekend brings two or three (or four) more days to get your groove on. So get out there and have fun.

Where to *be* this week/end

Friday

1/11

Republic

Located just off Uptown’s main drag, this hot spot offers a great restaurant/bar experience. Sip an award-winning Bacardi Frozen Mojito while kicking back on the Mediterranean patio, or indulge in a variety of global tapas in the Renaissance-themed lounge area (the kitchen is open until midnight). Craving an after-work cocktail? Domestic, house wines, and frozen drinks are only $3 Monday through Friday from 4-8pm. 2922 N. Hall Street. 214-740-1111. www.republicdallas.com.

Saturday

1/12

Loft 610

Those of you who live in Far North Dallas should give your Tolltags a rest. The new modern and sophisticated hotspot is huge–it takes up almost 9,000 square feet in Plano’s Granite Park–but it’s broken up into several areas, so it doesn’t feel cavernous. The space includes a large loft (hence the name) that divides the lounge and the dining room, a private dining room in the Library and the lounge with couches, and a huge bar for getting your drink on. 5760 State HWY 121, Ste. 175, Plano. 972-377-25000. www.loft610.com.

Sunday

1/13

Naked Sundays at Mantus Ultralounge

The name alone should be enough to get you there. But if that doesn’t do it for you, then DJs Jonny 5, Trimmer, and Kean should do the trick. Plus, Mantus is located under Iron Cactus downtown, and everyone knows subterranean bars are inherently cool. 1520 B Main St., 214-744-2222. www.mantusdallas.com.

Wednesday

1/17

Need a mid-week break? Here are some Wednesday night events that are sure to hold you over until the weekend.

Steel’s Sushi Night

Every Wednesday they serve complimentary sushi in the bar. And every Wednesday, Steel is packed. (Just check out the recent pics in the Nightlife Photo Gallery.) Plus, special happy hour prices, including $5 martinis. 3102 Oak Lawn Ave. 214-219-9908.

Fuse’s Wasabi Wednesdays

From 6-10pm, indulge in a three-course sushi menu with sake for only $25/person. And, of course, great drink specials, $2 Texas Beers $3 House sake, and my personal fav, sake bombs, for only $5. 1512 Commerce St. 214-742-3873. www.fusedallas.com.
