We can’t believe it’s already the Fourth of July again. Last year, we had a disastrous holiday due to a friend’s brother, a lake house, and an enormous bottle of vodka. But. This year will be better. We’ve learned our lesson. We are avoiding lakes and water at all costs. All relatives of friends are off limits. (We might drink a little vodka, but really, it wasn’t vodka’s fault the first time.) And, we are staying in town. This means plenty of time to check out the fireworks around the city, see some musical acts, and relax with our friends. We also have a half-day today, so, we’re out of here. Happy Fourth.

Fair Park Fourth - July 4
You could go to Addison. Yes, you could. But Fair Park Fourth has Fireworks by Grucci producing their fireworks show. Oh, never heard of ‘em? The First Family of Fireworks? Then you should definitely get out there and get a front-row seat. Apparently, they’ve produced shows for the Olympics, and this show will take them four days to set up, which is more time than it takes us to do all our work for the entire month (just kidding, boss!) Anyway, the fireworks will start at 9:30pm, and they’ll be synchronized to music played on WRR 101.1FM. At 5pm that day, all the museums will open free to the public, and there will be games, as well as performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony and the US Army Brass Quintet. Bring blankets and picnics, and concessions will also be available for sale. 5pm. Fair Park. 214-421-9600. www.FairPark.org. |

Happenings: Lone Stars and Stripes Fireworks Celebration. (Through July 4)
Maybe you need more action during your holiday than burning hamburgers on the grill and playing beer pong with Uncle Larry. Maybe, you're the kind of person who would like to be able to do a little gambling before enjoying his or her fireworks. |

Music: Rooney
We actually know someone in this band! Course, he probably wouldn’t remember us--he was much cooler than us in college. |

Events: Addison Kaboom Town
Come on, you know this is going to be a great place to watch fireworks. Yes, it’s Addison, but we’re telling you, it’s worth the 10 minute drive, so we’re begging you: Get out of the bubble. |

Music: Elephiesta
We know Tim Love knows how to cook, considering the greatness of his Fort Worth restaurant Lonesome Dove, but apparently he throws a pretty amazing Fourth of July party as well. |

Music: Spoonfed Tribe
Like the Flaming Lips and Rage Against the Machine? According to CD World, you’ll also love Spoonfed Tribe. They’ve got an Eastern-meets-tribal sound going on, and just listening to the songs on the Granada’s website made us shake it a little in our cube. |

Music: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
These two won a Grammy for their collaboration on the album Raising Sand and just listening to a few songs has made us a believer. |
