We really hope that story we heard about you waiting in line for tickets to see The Dark Knight for two hours—twice—isn’t true. Seriously people, isn’t there anything else to do in this town besides sit in a darkened theatre watching Christian Bale for three hours with a bucket of popcorn…oh wait. That sounds pretty fabulous, actually. Anyway, if you’re looking for something else to do, there’s a lot going on this weekend. Whether you like soft-core, guitar-playing hotties or hard-core guitar-playing hotties, we’ve got both in town (on the same night!) this weekend. There’s a new art exhibition that’s definitely worth checking out, as well as our favorite D-List comedian on Saturday night. On Sunday, well…we’ll see you and Christian at AMC.

Kathy Griffin - Jul. 26
We’ve spent many Sundays recently with Kathy during Bravo marathons of her show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. We love the way she is always offending people and having to apologize, and that time she went out with Ron Jeremy was amazing too. We also love when she makes fun of Clay Aiken, and we’re hoping she’ll do that during her live routine Saturday night. We laugh so much during the regular show we can’t imagine how much we’ll laugh when she’s in person. Come join us and we can compare notes at the Grapevine after.

Thursday
7/24 |
Music: Graham Colton Band
Graham is a cutie. You should go see him perform just for that reason. And he went to SMU, so all of you Mustangs should go just to represent.
|
|
|
Music: 97.1 The Eagle’s BFD: CrueFest
We have a guess what BFD stands for, but since this is a family publication, we’ll just let you imagine what it might be.

Friday
7/25 |
Film: The Wackness at Magnolia at the Modern
Okay, so, this movie is playing in a couple indie theaters around town. But wouldn’t you rather see this Sundance award-winner at the Modern Museum in Fort Worth? (We thought so. That’s why we like you.)

Saturday
7/26 |
Museums and Galleries: Group Hug exhibit at Marty Walker
Through Aug 30. For those who’ve never visited the Marty Walker gallery, this is probably a good time to do so. Their summer exhibition, Group Hug, is a collection of new works from artists very familiar to their gallery, not to mention amazing (Ted Kincaid, Tom Orr, Jay Shinn, Frances Bagley, etc) as well as new talent such as Archie Scott Gobber and William Lamson.

Monday
7/28 |
Food and Wine: Cakebread Cellars Wine Dinner at Bijoux
Cakebread is one of our mother’s favorite kinds of wine, and if we weren’t so cheap, we would get her a ticket for this wine dinner at Bijoux.
