Judging by the amount of happy hour patio seating available around town these days (read: zero), summer is officially here. We’ll admit that we do not look our best in the summertime. While others are getting blonder and more bronzed, we tend to become sweaty, frizzy, and grumpy. No, we are currently not at our finest, but that is a situation we will have to work out with our hair stylist and our pharmacist. You, however, are probably glorious in 100-plus heat. You are probably one of those people who “never sweats” and who is blessed with stick-straight hair. These events are for you. Go outside and see a movie. Head to One Arts Plaza for an organic farmer’s market. Hit Preston Center for an Iced Tea Competition. Actually, we’ll be at that one, too, so come say hello. We’ll try not to hold your coolness against you.

Movies Under the Stars - June 5
To us, summertime is the perfect time for staying inside. We start sweating after about 15 seconds out of AC. For those with cooler internal temps, we recommend a romantic date al fresco at the NYLO Plano at Legacy hotel. First reason: The NYLO is a very cool new hotel we should all check out. Second reason: They are showing Big this Thursday night in the hotel’s courtyard, and it’s free. All you need to bring is a blanket. Third reason: The drive back from Plano should give those of you on a first date plenty of time to work up the courage to attempt a doorstep make out session. There will be food and drinks to buy, and from 5–7, they are offering drink specials to get everyone sufficiently loosened up. Showtime: 7:30pm. NYLO Plano at Legacy, 8201 Preston Road, Plano. 972-624-6990. http://www.nylohotels.com/plano.

Happenings: NorthPark Bridal’s Let Them Eat Cake Through June 8
No, we are still not engaged. But we thought we would include this listing for those of you who are luckier in love than we are. (And we’re hoping you’ll think of us when that hottie best man needs a date.)

Music: The Cure
Since the song “Friday I’m in Love” pretty much sums up every weekend at the Old Monk for us, we are pretty stoked to see The Cure.

Music: Zoso: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin
This LA-based band claims to relive the “music, magic, and mystery of Zeppelin,” according to the website. This scares us a little bit but we admit we are intrigued.

Food and Wine: The Plaza at Preston Center’s Best Iced Tea Contest
Normally we don’t endorse someone else’s Dallas “bests” (we want you to keep buying our magazine, duh), but this second annual showdown has us curious. And, since they’ve asked us to judge, this will obviously be a TOTALLY AMAZING EVENT.

Food and Wine: Whole Foods Organic Food Market at One Arts Plaza
You know how cool it is to eat organically, right? And, if you’re like us, you visit One Arts Plaza for any reason at all. (We visited last weekend just to ride the elevator. Yes, we got kicked out.) The folks at OAP are making it easier on us to hang out there this summer, and we can even buy the makings of dinner while we’re at it.
