This has been the kind of week when we don’t even have five minutes to ourselves. It’s gotten so crazy, we are forced to apply self-tanner at our desks and cut our own bangs in the bathroom because we just don’t have time to get those things properly taken care of. (And, in retrospect, the do-it-yourself waxing kit was probably not our most brilliant idea.) Thank goodness it’s almost the weekend. We can’t wait to hit on the B-list celebs that will be in town for the Heroes Celebrity Weekend (hey, we’re not hating—we’re not even on the list), schmooze with chefs at Taste the Nation, and kick off July by watching Jaws at Victory Park. If we ever get out of the office, that is. Someone pass the Neutrogena—we have to get to at least Tan Level Four before meeting Geoff Stults.

Seventh Annual Reebok Heroes Celebrity Weekend - June 27-28

Last year during this weekend, we managed to have quite a bit of fun. We plan on doing the same this year. Come out for this two-day party benefiting the Heroes Foundation and the Mike Modano Foundation. Start on Friday night at the Palladium for a “ChillOut” concert from Lifehouse, then head over to Dr Pepper Ballpark the next day to see Mark Cuban and the many athletes and actors battle it out on the field. We don’t know where the party will be after the game, but—trust us—you’ll want to check it out. Jun 27–29. Check website for locations and times. www.heroesbaseball.org.

Food and Wine: Central Market Cooking Class

Tired of feeling like the only non-gourmand in the room? Let the pros at Central Market help, by taking advantage of the classes at their cooking schools. This Friday night the topic is An Evening in Argentina, which from our experience includes a lot of Malbec wine and an awkward tango. Their version of this is different.

Saturday

6/28

Sports: Texas Rangers vs. Philadelphia Phillies

It isn’t just a game this week, friends. There are fireworks involved. And Josh Hamilton SI cover reprints, although we’re not sure what the big draw is for that.

Sunday

6/29

Galas and Events: Sugar N’ Paws

We’re usually not big on Sunday functions, due to the massive amount of vodka required to get us through Saturday nights. However, this event could be the exception.

Galas and Events: Taste of the Nation

Benefiting Share Our Strength, an organization devoted to ending childhood hunger in America, this 20th annual event draws top Dallas chefs together to cook for a good cause. Host chef Stephan Pyles and others from Bijoux, Fearing’s, York Street, and more, will be in attendance.

Tuesday

7/1

Film: Get Reel Summer Movie Series

It’s hot, and we are currently looking for activities that don’t involve sitting on a bar’s patio. We’ve already been doing that five nights a week and it’s getting a little old. The alternative? An al fresco movie.
