So far, this week has been a success for us. First, we managed to stay dry from Sunday to Tuesday. Second, we won our office pool for the NCAA Tourney (hint for next year: pick your hometown fave to win it all. It finally worked for us.) Third, we may or may not be leaving the country. Tomorrow. Okay, we totally are! So please bear in mind, this newsletter was cobbled together in a brain so muddled with thoughts of Euros, the location of our passport, the state of our packing (re: ?), the procurement of Ambien, the downloading of plane-friendly iTunes, and the thought of seven days without text messaging that we apologize for in advance. Here are things to do if you’re stuck stateside. As usual, they are amazing. We’ll see you next week, unless there is a plane crash or an Eiffel Tower elopement.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. - Apr. 13
We worked for about a year in New Jersey, and let us tell you—it is not very beautiful. But the people are nice, and they are all enormous fans of Bruce Springsteen. When the Boss comes to town, everyone takes two days off in preparation and two days off afterward for recovery. We like that mentality. We don’t need to tell you why this concert will be amazing, but we’ll just mention a few song titles: “Thunder Road,” “Born to Run,” “Hungry Heart,” “Dancing in the Dark,” and of course, “Born in the U.S.A.” You’re going to wish you went, so just go, already. |

Happenings: Girls Night Out at the Library Bar
We love the Library Bar. It just screams “sordid tryst.” Well, it used to at least—we haven’t been to check out the newly revamped Library, but they tell us it’s still as tryst-friendly as ever. See for yourself at this Girls Night Out, hosted by 103.7 Lite FM. |

Galas and Benefits: Slumber in the City
Remember those lock-ins we went to in middle school? Those days they were just a good excuse to spend the night in close proximity to boys, and we liked the ruggedness of sleeping bags. This is kind of like that, but for adults with deep pockets. |

Kid Stuff: Camper Scamper
We think exercising with your child sounds confusing. What would the child do while we were flirting with our trainer? Well, if you and your kid have figured that out, this activity might be for you. |

Food and Wine: Taste of the NFL
Here’s one charity event we don’t have to trick our hubby/boyfriend/friend-with-benefits to attend. |

Happenings: Cowgirl vs. Cowboy Cuisine with Paula Disbrowe and Robb Walsh
To help raise money for the DMA’s exhibition “Bluebonnets and Beyond: Julian Onderdonk, American Impressionist,” these two Texas-loving chefs/food writers are whipping out their pistols, err cookbooks, for a good, old-fashioned showdown. |
