D Magazine's weekly guide to the goings-on in the Dallas-Fort Worth area February 28
Forwward to a friend

We know you. All week long, you’ve been spending your minutes watching Celebrity Rehab and obsessively browsing Web sites looking at the Oscar best-and-worst-dressed (Katherine Heigel, yes! Tilda Swinton, girl, no.) You probably don’t even know that Friday is a Leap Day. LEAP DAY. Since this day only comes once every four years, we think it’s almost like the day doesn’t exist. Kind of like when we’re in Vegas, or Shreveport, or even that casino in Oklahoma that doesn’t serve alcohol—what happens there, stays there. So we plan to spend it in some sort of debauched fashion, or alternatively, at a Matchbox Twenty concert. Of course, we might be busy applying our Obama ’08 stickers to our car (sorry, Dad). Ready, set, Leap.

Featured Event

Voice of Peace - Mar 1

Who doesn’t want peace? Okay, don’t go there. On the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, this event helps us come together in hope for a peaceful solution, and Maya Angelou will be speaking. That’s reason enough to go.

Friday

2/29

Music: Matchbox Twenty

Despite those rumors about Rob Thomas and Tom Cruise that were floating around a few years back, Matchbox Twenty has sold more than 37 million albums worldwide and continues to draw a huge fan base.

Saturday

3/1

Happenings: Duncan Quinn Grand Opening

We’re not sure what “Champers” is, or are, but according to the press release we’ll be quaffing them at the Duncan Does Dallas grand opening party.

Sunday

3/2

Theatre and Dance: Goodnight Moon

The Dallas Children’s Theater’s production of Goodnight Moon actually sounds like a sweet show—a distinct change from the usual lies you tell your children.

Monday

3/3

Art: White Space at the W

We are going to attend this event just so we can ask artist Christine Star Scott if that’s her real middle name. If not, we are so changing ours to Sarah “Sunbeam” Eveans. Anyway, her artwork looks amazing and colorful, so we’re not sure where the “white space” comes in.
