Real Weddings: Laura Fleming & Christopher Sanchez
Two non-natives start their lives together in Big D.
Laura was visiting Dallas when she met Chris through mutual friends. She loved the city, but she says with a laugh, “I wasn’t really a big fan [of Chris] at first.” Lucky for him, she came around, and six months later he popped the question. Though neither is a hometown kid (Chris is from Mexico City, while Laura is an Iowa native), the couple so love Big D, there was no question it would host their nuptials. “We wanted a wedding that was reflective of Chris and I,” says Laura, “but also of Dallas,” which is why they incorporated a coffee bar from their favorite shop, Pearl Cup, and swapped a traditional groom’s cake for an exotic truffle arrangement by Dude, Sweet Chocolate. Laura and Chris gave their 300 guests the taste of Dallas they had dreamt of.
