The Best Residential Real Estate Agents and Top Real Estate Producers in Dallas 2012
Recent home buyers, and other industry professionals, help us rate the top talent in town.
HOW WE DID IT: To produce the list of best Residential Real Estate Agents, we began by reaching out to almost 10,000 people. We mailed nomination ballots to 444 previous Best Real Estate Agent winners, 226 mortgage and title companies, and 5,000 D Magazine subscribers. In addition to that, we hired a call center that made 3,800 calls to recent home buyers. To determine the Best Residential Real Estate Agents, we asked recent home buyers and subscribers to evaluate up to two agents they have worked with. We asked them to rate the agents based on customer service, integrity, market knowledge, communication, negotiation, post-sale service, and overall satisfaction. We asked mortgage and title companies to nominate up to three real estate agents they work with closely. We asked previous Best Real Estate Agents to nominate up to three real estate agents, one with their firms, and two outside their firms. We put all that data into an algorithm placing emphasis on feedback we received from consumers, our subscribers, and the recent home buyers. We then screened each nominee with the Texas Real Estate Commission database to make certain that licenses were up to date and there had been no disciplinary action. The resulting list represents slightly less than 2 percent of licensed real estate agents in the Dallas area. Finally, we turned the list over to our sales team. They cannot add to or subtract from the lists, but they can sell ads to the winners. Advertising in no way affects our lists, the final makeup of which is the sole determination of the editorial staff.

Also as part of our annual Best Real Estate Agents program, which focuses on excellence in customer service, D Magazine recognizes the area’s Top Residential Real Estate Producers, based solely on the previous year’s sales volume. Racking up tens of millions in home sales in the hotly competitive North Texas market isn’t easy. To make D’s Top Producers list, agents had to achieve, or lead teams that achieved, the following minimums: individual agents, $10 million; teams of two agents, $15 million; groups of three to five agents, $25 million; groups of six to 10 agents, $35 million; and groups with more than 10 agents, $40 million. This year we took things up a notch and added platinum levels: individual agents, $25 million; teams of two agents, $30 million; groups of three to five agents, $50 million; groups of six to 10 agents, $70 million; and groups with more than 10 agents, $80 million. Five North Texas real estate firms had 25 or more residential agents qualify for inclusion on the Top Producers list: Dave Perry-Miller & Associates, Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, RE/MAX, Ebby Halliday, and Allie Beth Allman & Associates.
