Are injections of Botox®, Dysport® and dermal fillers safe?
Yes, all injections are safe and approved by the FDA for cosmetic use. Side effects for these cosmetic procedures are minimal and can include: bruising, swelling, redness, and pain at the injection site. Other possible side effects can be discussed with your doctor.
How long do the injection results last and are they expensive?
Results from Botox® and Dysport® injections usually last between three and four months. Most dermal fillers are FDA-approved to last up to one year. We strive to keep our prices competitive and offer a discount on the second and third injection site at the same treatment appointment. Additionally, we encourage our patients to take advantage of patient rewards programs and rebates manufacturers offer to make the treatments even more affordable.
What areas can be treated with injections?
Injections of Botox® or Dysport® are used to treat wrinkles on the upper third of the face. The most popular areas are the frown lines (between the brows). Many patients also request treatment for the horizontal lines of the mid to upper forehead and the fine lines around the eyes. Dermal fillers can soften nasal labial folds and improve vertical lines around the lips as well as wrinkles on other areas of the face like the chin and cheeks. There are a number of different dermal fillers available and your physician can select the type best suited to your individual needs.
“Our patients often report that friends and family members comment that they look rested or sometimes ask if they have changed something with their makeup or hair.”
Will it be obvious that I had injections done?
No, when skillfully injected, results are subtle and refreshing. In our office, injections and treatments are performed by experienced physicians. Our patients often report that friends and family members comment that they look rested or sometimes ask if they have changed something with their makeup or hair.
Are the injections painful?
There is some degree of discomfort for most patients during injections. However, topical numbing agents are usually applied to the area prior to injection and most dermal fillers now include lidocaine to make the experience more comfortable.
