You Need to Know Head Golf Professional David Price
Title: Head Golf Professional, Bent Tree Country Club
Details: Price’s first position was as an assistant pro in Houston in 1973, followed by a stint at the Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, where he worked his way up to head golf professional. In 1985 he came to Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas, where he’s worked ever since.
Why you need to know him: Because skill on the links can give you a boost in the boardroom. And, as the economy falters, relationships with clients and co-workers are more important than ever. Besides, no one wants to look like a novice with a set of clubs.
“Eighty percent of people who play golf,” Price notes, “play with an improper swing.” The most common mistake, he says, is slicing the ball. His “cure” for that usually involves hand rotation and a grip adjustment.
Widely recognized as one of the area’s top golf instructors, the 59-year-old College Station native is reluctant to talk about individual clients. But many are businessmen who try to sneak in a quick game between meetings.
Price graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in finance, and says he had to decide early on “between handling people’s money and people’s golf games.” He chose golf and never looked back—for which many hopeful duffers are thankful.
