When you know, you know. That’s how Jenny Hawkins and John Rachels see it. They’d been friends for a while before their first date, but Jenny remembers thinking, “This is my last first date.” Four months later they were engaged, when John called her at 4 am and asked her to open the door. He’d driven through the night from Arkansas to Texas, unable to wait even until daylight. He dropped to his knees and, even though both were dressed only in pajamas, asked her to marry him. And she did, on December 29, 2007, at the Hall of State at Fair Park.
