Liz and Doug Davis should be poster children for the whole downtown loft thing. The couple sold their North Dallas house, took the kids, and moved into a Deep Ellum space. But where was the place to get a cup of coffee and the New York Times? Using money pooled from their high-tech jobs, they opened Murray Street Coffee Shop in a quaint brick building off Main Street. They outfitted it with ’50s furniture, fired up the Italian Illy coffee, and installed a rack for the Times. Murray Street is no late-night hang; it’s the flip side of Deep Ellum, open during the daytime only.
